Once the family has collected the hospital documents (Cause of Death Medical Certificate Form 18, Medical Certificate (Cremation) Form 2, and the Body Release Permit), or the "Authorization to Cremate Body Order Certificate" (Form 11) issued by the Coroner's Court, they should bring the applicant's and the deceased's identification documents to the Joint Office with the Wing Fook Funeral planners to handle the official death certificate, cremation permit, and other required documents and procedures.
In cases of natural death, the death registration procedures usually take 20 minutes. After completing the procedures, the applicant will be issued a "Death Registration Certificate" (Form 12) and a death certificate. They can then apply for a cremation permit (Form 3). In cases of unnatural death, they can directly apply to the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department for a cremation session.
